Star Battle Hints
How to Solve Star Battle Puzzles
Star Battle puzzles are solved by eliminating impossible cells until a star is forced. The most useful hints come from rows, columns, color regions, and the rule that stars cannot touch, even diagonally.
Hint 1: Scan Small Regions First
A narrow or oddly shaped region often has fewer possible star cells. If every other square in that region is blocked by a row, column, or neighbor rule, the remaining square must contain a star.
Hint 2: Mark Around Every Star
After placing a star, mark the eight surrounding squares as impossible. Then mark the rest of that star's row, column, and color region. This creates new forced positions.
Hint 3: Look for Only-One-Place Groups
If a row, column, or color region has only one cell left where a star can go, that cell is forced. This is the simplest Star Battle strategy and works well for daily puzzles.
